adsl2+ router work on adsl connection?

hi there

i am wanting to buy the Netgear Wireless adsl2+ N150 Modem Router, i assume this will work on my adsl line which is not adsl2+ enabled?, many thanks

It might, but there are two Netgear N150 products - rather confusing.


It should work on a basic ADSL line as most modems are backward compatible but it cannot be guaranteed. Email/contact Netgear http://support.netgear.com/app/

MHC has got this wrong that router is a modem as well that the OP linked to.

Actually no ... I went through te Netgear website and the N150 that it came up with initially was a plain wireless router ...

That looks cheap enough to be the cable version

but who knows

it has the specs of the ADSL version.

It's the diff. between N150 WIRELESS ROUTER - WNR1000 & N150 WIRELESS ADSL2+ MODEM ROUTER - DGN1000.

No, but it is covered by the Trade Descriptions / Sale of Goods Acts.

Netgear does say "System Requirements: ADSL Broadband Internet service" generically!

But why give two products the same Name/Number?

Great confusion on the Netgear site.

"N150" is the series name (like BMW 3 Series) and "WNR1000/DGN1000" are the actual model names (like 318i SE). I don't find it confusing.

I think it's more a confusion with the Argos description than the product - in that Argos omit the model number.... Having said that, Argos have often mixed up Routers and Modem Routers in the past as their catalogue staff don't seem to fully understand the difference!!

The N150 simply refers to the fact that it is 'N' and has a max speed of 150Mbps (as opposed to their faster products). One is Cable (the WNR1000) the other is a Modem Router (the DGN1000).
