Is this normal

[link to this post]

Hello everyone newby here sorry for the long post
I would like some help and advice if possible
I switched to idnet and am going through the training period,I have went through 2 other training periods with other companies and had no problems normally the line has been set by day5-7.but with this one I have been getting between 2 and 5 re-syncs a day,I'm on day ten today and have had 5 today already.the re-syncs have ranged from 1500kbps to 3500kbps(for two years I have had a 3200kbps stable conection).I am using a brand new 2700hgv I also tried a dg834gt a the start of the training period and I was doing the same thing.idnet have said they can't do anything until the training period is over(but they don't see a problem because I'm getting over 1.5mb which bt says is the max I can get even though I for two years I have had 3200,they also can't see any re-syncs they have also said lines degrade over time)

Can anyone help please

It woud be better if you posted a link to a screen shot of the diagnostics page showing every sync/resync/loss of sync.

Also, get Router Stats Lite, and get some detailed graphs of Sync and SNR over a 24 hour period with 1 minute sampling.

Is there any LLU providers at your exchange?

I had a power cut yesterday so what I have posted is only from yesterday(wasn't expecting a power cut so have lst the stats from the previous 7days)I have been using router stats and it's always a solid line with maybe .5-1 db change until the drop which looks like a heart beat monitor/earthquake graph

Sorry, I'm struggling to make sense of your stats. Can you state what your Attenuation and Noise margin is for downstream and upstream?

I think you need to run the BT speedtester at http://speedtester.bt.com/ and find out what your profile is set to.

Your high noise margin might indicate you have had noise problems on the line.

That's what I keep saying to idnet and they keep saying back that lines degrade over time so tought basically bt are not interested in speed more interested in getting your line stable by raising the snr

I will run a speed test now and post the results

I have never had any problems in two years with noise and up until two weeks ago hadn't surfferd a drop in connection in over 80 days and had no more than a 2db drop in that time

I can't see why it should vary, it should be at max power all the time. I think this is indicative of a line fault. Looks like someone has messed up your wiring.

Is your voice line quiet or does it crackle and pop?

I have been through everything to make sure the noise isn't on my end
I have had my heating off totally for three days to make sure it wasn't that, changed the modem cable to a twisted pair, changed the face plate to an adsl nation one, changed the power suppy of the router, pulled the router away from all plug sockets, there is nothing else I can think of

I have just had my twisted pair changed over and line card changed this is my second training period on the first one the same thing happened and then the line card failed

My voice line was noisy so the engineer changed my pair then the line card failed that night, the voice line is clear now

here are my speed test results from a 2.5mb throughput to this

Download speedachieved during the test was - 1055 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :1792 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1250 Kbps

I think I will be leaving idnet tomorrow morning,EIGHT DROPS in one day on the last day of the training period and to still be told "lines degrade over time and your getting 1.5mb which is what bt says you can get so tough" is not good enough

I really really wish I had stayed where I was or gone to Zen

Maybe AAISP is a good ISP to sort out your problems - then leave before you have to re-mortgage.

Expense doesn't bother me all I want is a good service, not to be fobbed off and the speed I got with orange/sky
Think I might post in the idnet part of these forums

WRONG Lines never stop training, the 10 day training period on BT Wholesale is to learn one figure for diagnostics purposes that is it.

The training of noise margin follows the up and down pattern forever.

Why was that bit of cable changed, the indication is that the previous wiring was better.

It was better buy I was having a few noise issues on my voice calls so the engineer switched the pair instead of looking for the problem

If this was a voice engineer he will have just tested for voice quality, so you have probably just gone onto the pair that has noise issues for DSL.

The rules are more stringent for voice, hence easier to get line shifted. Broadband is a suck it and see service
