How to use all my internet speed!

I seem to be unable to take advantage of my internet speed, when i begin a download it begins at about 1mb/s but then it suddenly goes down to and stays at 200Kb/s. I was told this was due to the fact i had a B and G wireless adapter, but even wired i get the same thing, to be sure i bought an N tech Wireless Adapter, same speeds again.

What do I need to do to get the full speed of my broadband??

Post your router stats and do a speed test here.

Which ISP and package?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

sorry im not sure what information you would really need, i have a netgear router.

im still getting a download speed of no more than 200Kb/s when it says it says i can I have

Is that Virgin Media cable, or Virgin Media ADSLx? What you describe sounds like ADSLx but I can't see XL as an option for that.

The stats we want from the router are the connection speed, attenuation and noise margin, but if you are on cable you won't be able to get them. If on ADSLx, then try http://192.169.0.1 and look for things like Status and Statistics.

The username could be admin and the password password.
