As it's fairly obvious to me that my isp who is blocking/censoring a web site forum
LittleGossip.com, the one featured in last nights Panarama, But why block it? it does not contain CP , So this nanny state censoring BS has started has it

Why is it obvious it's your ISP? It might be the site owners blocking a block of IPs belonging to an ISP.
As an adult, I'm trying to think of a good reason for a site designed for posting nasty things about others. For over-18s too it seems. Strange way to spend the best years of one's life.

Site could be blocking UK addresses to avoid litigation - bit of a stretch I know - be interesting to see if others can get to it without using a proxy. Google is listing it as first entry.

Maybe, censorship for bullying what next i ask,Bullying at school is part of growing up or was in my day, prepares most for the pressures in later life, not that i condone bullying but by blocking such sites all they do is increase awareness of this sites, i for one had never hear of it until i saw panorama, this country just gets worse,
Do they not remember the sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me rhyme

According to this it's closed down. "Little Gossip" a website used by school children to anonymously gossip about others has been closed down due to constant "malicious comments". The site was criticised by an anti-bullying charity last February for having schools on its list of places people are able to gossip about.
The owners of the site released a statement about the closure explaing their decission was due to the abusive posts which they claim is "something that we can not support". Also reported here.
Edit: Apologies. That last link, to the BBC, was dated February 2011; the first link is current though.

Now that is a good idea, they would have everything and anything that THEY don't like closed down ect, under guise of think of the children, they are nothing more than devil dodgers who are living in the past (they being the organsiser's)

Complaining about one site being closed, then calling for another to be closed as their views do not agree with yours.
There is a lot of irony there

There is a lot of irony there That maybe , but it is for over 18's this group who are campaigning for the closure of this site are not really doing it in the name of the children, as over 18's are adults
Now if their kids are unsupervised whilst using the internet ,and access this site and other content deemed suitable for adults, then that is not the fault of their Isp, or the government ,or the sites owner, but only their own fault ,
Why because it's they who don't want to look after their kids, but expect society in general to do it for them, now not everyone who considers them selves to be a member of this gang, will have the same views,
They want this closing that stopping a law making for that ,one changing to do this , that's all they do, nag, nag, nag but often bark up the wrong trees, instead of getting supported they end up being hated

So no internet-capable mobile phones for their kids, no sleepovers, not even visits to friends' houses, no looking at friends' mobiles.
At home, of course it's easy, as we all know that no-one under the age of 18 has any possible chance of working out how to circumnavigate parental control software.
Another thought, how do parents or a single parent supervise the internet access of multiple children in different rooms?

In fairness to the anon, it's not my problem, your problem or society's problem. It's the parents' and or guardians' problem. Newsagents pop the strong stuff on the top shelf, landlords (should) check for ID. Society takes steps to keep themelves right and legal, but it's not their fault if kids are given all the access to these things.

1, I think internet capable phones for their kids to use is a bad plan for those who are so insistent on their cherubs not being able to access over 18 's content, by providing such a gadget then they have to accept that kids will always do this sort of thing, it's for most part of growing up, but too much nannying ain't in the long tern beneficial to any child young adult, life can be hard, they should be prepared for what it may throw at them
There is no one forcing the parents to buy such gadgets or for their offspring to use such, they are a luxury & not a right, plus the parents would save a fortune
2, more than one pc/laptop ? simple limit the number to 1 so you can supervise them if you are so paranoid that they will be looking at porn or accessing this sort of site once you back is turned
The re is some similarities to this argument and another quest of mumsnet, that was to get retail stores to stop selling clothing that was described as inappropriate by them for young kids,( pre teen girls clothing ) this was featured on tv too, sexualisation of children
But yet again the shopkeeper is not forcing them to buy such items. so if they don't like them the the answer is simple don't buy them, and what happened to telling the child No you are not having that ect? or commonsense ,?Because if no body bought the stuff i very much doubt it would exist in those clothing shops, this country is barking ....
