new brightbox from orange!

i have been using it for about 6 hours,no disconnection sofar ,crossing fingers!! orange sent that to me after trying out livebox (stable connection but very slow 5meg max) and netgear gn100 ( 11 meg speed but had to be restarted about 12 times a day) anyway

there is an option to change the wireless speed on it to 300 mbp,
do you think i should change the wireless speed to 300 mbps?my computer supports it but some other computers in the house won't ,would that cause any issues with the others computers ? or phones connected to it that dont support it?
if all the devices work on it why don't they just set it up 300mbps straight away?

Set Wireless Mode to "11b+11g+11n". That will cope with all wireless devices.

What I mean when won't support is their wireless card isn't 300mps like mine , they probably are 65 mbps

Yes! Change it as I said earlier. That setting is compatible with the slower wireless cards (11g & 11b) as well as the faster ones (11n).

In fact as I remember it, the BrightBox defaulted to that setting and I reduced it to "11b+11g" because I have no 11n devices.

EDIT: Are you trying to say can you make the 56 Meg 11g adapters go faster? No, you can't unless you replace them.

I really don't know what you are asking!

They did set it up to 11n (300 Meg) straightaway while still being able to talk to slower 11 b & 11 g cards.

Don't forget that unless you are communicating a lot locally between your PCs, you are limited by the 11 Meg speed of your BB which is shared out between your PCs. So no PC can use wireless faster than 11 Meg when talking to the Internet.

If other devices don't support 300mbps and are connected then the router wont run at 300 if that device is connected at the same time.
