Why do isp's hide behind this ? in particular when it's obvious you have a line fault , they always quote it, like it's remotely accurate, it always says that yor line can support lower speeds that it does/can in the real world, this is not in the interest of the customer and it should at least be updated with accurate details there isn't even a way for a customer to get it updated /corrected

You counter them by revealing the physics behind it and relying on one of the reputable Speed Calculators such as http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php

I did so with Orange when they got uppity and got my way . Mind you I had to formally write to them; "Tech" Support had no inkling of the technical aspects of BB.
