I regraded over to BT 21CN today but my Netgear DGN2000 refuses to connect on ADSL2 or 2+.
The DSL light flashes and then it eventually goes off.
Any idea what the problem could be?

my Netgear DGN2000 refuses to connect on ADSL2 or 2+. Important omission: BUT does it agree to connect on ADSL1? If so, you haven't been regraded yet.

Yes it connects straight away to ADSL1.

If the upstream is 448 then you've not being migrated yet then

It's 896kbps.
I was on an office product before so had the higher upload speed.
|
|
|
ADSL Max Office product would have been fixed at 832k so it looks like it has been done, are you running the latest firmware in the router?
|
|
|
|
It's a Netgear DGN2000 running the latest DGTeam firmware.
I think I may have Speedtouch 585v6 in the loft. I'll dig it out and test it.

I tried an old 2wire 2700hgv and it would not connect to Adsl2 / 2+ either.
Line stats from the Netgear
Channel: INTR, Upstream rate = 896 Kbps, Downstream rate = 5120 Kbps
Link Power State: L0
Mode: G.DMT
Channel: Interleave
Trellis: ON
Line Status: No Defect
Training Status: Showtime
Down Up
SNR (dB): 8.9 11.0
Attn(dB): 49.0 24.0
Pwr(dBm): 19.5 12.7
Max(Kbps): 5440 1064
Rate (Kbps): 5120 896
It just won't accept me forcing it to 2 or 2+ at all

ISPs can request ADSL only profiles, so this might be the case

It definitely on 21CN as I can tell by the download speed I am getting.
Xilo said it's on a 21CN port. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and get them to double check it's not set at ADSL1.
What's the headline ADSL1 sync for the upload?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Why would the Netgear say I am on G.DMT with that upload speed?
Has anyone got any knowledge of forcing a Netgear onto ADSL2 or 2+? Maybe I am doing it wrong.
I untick all the modes apart from ADSL2 or 2+ and then let it sync - which it fails to do.

|
|
It's possible you are now on the 21CN MSAN on an ADSL2+ circuit, but with your line parameters set ADSL(1) profile by the ISP. I think this is often done deliberately, for a few reasons, and you have to get them to set it to ADSL2+.
When this happens you usually see quite a bit higher upload than 896kbps, but I suppose that's feasible.
Have you asked support?

Yes, the customer has.. and is confirmed as already set on the correct product, but we're already in discussions with them about the issue

You are still on ADSL as your sync rates can be divided by 32.
Also, you can achieve an upload sync higher than 448/832 on ADSL as these were just artificial caps set by BT.
|
|
|
It's all sorted now - not sure what the issue was but Xilo were straight on the case as always.
Happily running on ADSL2 at just over 6Mb - not bad for a 52db line

Good news .
The stats now please?

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6120 kbps 1116 kbps
Line Attenuation 49.0 db 24.0 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 5.5 db
The upload speed has shot up this morning. It would not go higher than 888kbps no matter what ADSL mode I used.
The thing I am most happy about is the fact on ADSL2 it will hang on to that sync over night when things get noisy. ADSL1 would re-sync.

, but you've left the mode out this time. ADSL2+/G.992.5? (Doubtful that it is ADSL2/G.992.3).
