Please can someone help me, I have discovered this Thomson as a user on my Internet, my husband doesn't know how it got there, could somebody explain it to me and what it is for, I have no idea with Internet connection, thankyou

you are going to have to give us a little more info to be able to help you.

Thompson is a well known make of broadband equipment, could this be it ?

How and where are you and your husband seeing this name appearing ? Router logs ?

I would imagine that you're seeing Vista/Win7's Explorer "network map" and the "Thomson" in question is your ADSL router.

It is usually a good idea to change that display name to something more cryptic which you recognise but which does not blatantly identify you or the make and model of router (name of your goldfish for example).
