Can I just double check this...?

I am pretty certain i dont have a line issue here, but I just want to check following a call to my ISP. Every now and again my router reports lots of disconnects. The synch rate stays the same so to me its a problem at my ISP ADSL24 (murphx). The WAN log shows no interruption. I quizzed my ISP and they said "we can ask BT to raise your margin to make the line more stable" etc, but to my mind this is not the issue. My WAN/LAN has currently been up for over 500 hours, here is a cut and paste from the router log which says to me its an ISP issue. Thoughts?

Probably due to the BT Wholesale fault at Manchester. Plusnet around here was down from 8am or so till some time after 11am. Had me reconfiguring my router, etc. etc., till I was able to use my mobile.

We have been made aware of a problem a 08:06am this morning which affected all 20CN and 21CN lines that are routed through Manchester.
This will affect customers across the UK and is not local to the Manchester region.

These Plusnet outages are getting very regular. BTW are always blamed but it is always Plusnet users that suffer the bulk of the outages. Scratching around the best I can, I can find no info for a B.T. outage anywhere Manchester today.

Strange that ADS24, a Manchester-area based ISP, as are Zen, seem to have the trouble? Zen are giving the exact same information as Plusnet about what BT are doing about it, if you care to read the Plusnet updates. Is that just a figment of my imagination? How about AAISP?

At 08:06:58 all 20CN and 21CN lines routed via Manchester dropped and at the same time we stopped seeing any platform RADIUS requests from BT.

This suggests a major routing issue within BT. It means that nobody can re-connect any broadband line.

We are trying to get an answer out of BT on this.

Whilst BT are being a tad inconsistent in telling various ISPs what is happening, we have heard from another ISP that "Engineer is onsite at Manchester with a spare card. Changeout is about to commence with the assistance of vendor support. Next update will be at 10:20"

We are waiting for more detail on BT on this, and how it is they appear to depend entirely on a single card in Manchester for the entire BTW platform.

I suggested it could be this fault as your log is entirely authentication failures, which is what this caused.

Do you usually get those when you have the problem, or does it fail to even connect to the exchange? If the latter, it could be the link between your line and the DSLAM - jumpering or the line card dodgy.

If it's always authentication, that's wierd.

Not 100% sure what you mean tbh. Occasionally I get a re-synch to the exchange but more often than not the actual sync rate remains the same etc, its just the actual network/internet connection or whatever that has an episode like above. My ISP was trying to tell me its the line being unstable and losing synch because the noise is going outside the margin causing disconnects. I say its "something else"

Any chance of full stats? Your sig doesn't really give any important info. And what router have you got? Which ADSL24 package are you on?

Next time it happens, can we have a short extract from the log again please? So we can see if it is the same as above, or a bit different.

Im on their £20 /month package "Home 30 (21CN ADSL)", they sent me an email after a recent exchange upgrade saying I can move to ADSL2 I think it was but I havent done anything about it yet.

Just checked my log and no drops since yesterday morning at the moment.
