Could also be a leased circuit instead of CATV.

Leased circuit I am assuming thats the Ethernet for business.

If so I dont think they would put one there as there is no business premises around there

Almost certainly something to do with a leased line or CATV or a part of they Fibre Network.

VM are not extending their Network other than in a few small isolated cases. THey did a year or two back claim they were going to start infilling in their existing coverage areas but this have never really happened.

Not just business but also school, colleges and other placing of learning and education. Council offices, police and community buildings and other utilities e.g gas, water, electricity sites are all common places to have leased lines. Mobile phone base station wil have leased lines

Virgin have won contracts for providing networks to local education authorities elsewhere , so may be for that.

Yes it did, and if they are doing something with CATV that's their cable network, the clue being the acronym CATV.

Virgin are increasing their coverage areas, albeit perhaps not as quickly as some would wish.

Some areas either have CATV covers but no cable as the company that originally built there ran out of cash, or have networks that Virgin Media couldn't upgrade viably.

CATV is the abbreviation for cable TV, if Virgin are doing something with CATV in a new area they're enabling it for cable.

Damn. I always thought it was what the Romans called CAT5.
