Is this a router bug?

Running Netgear DG834Gv5

My Connection Time is 3 days 05:21:33, however my PPPoA shows this:

PPPoA 8073617 9968794 0 5613 12789 20:38:47

So that means even though ive been connected for just over 3 days, i apparently lost sync 20 hours ago. How is that possible? Surely a loss in sync would disconnect me? The sync has stayed the same throughout the 3 days, and there is nothing in my router log to suggest a reason to what happened.

So im wondering if its just a strange bug?

No, not a bug but a misunderstanding.

That is the time that sync has been maintained between your modem/router and the MSAN.

I can track my connections using the "My Account" area on my ISP website. That lists connects/disconnects and how long my current session is. Nowhere on that does it list a disconnect 20 hours ago. Thats what i dont get

Also what would cause the PPPoa session to drop?

It was probably of short duration, which invariably re-establishes the previous PPP session before it times out, so won't appear as a new connection to the ISP.

Your ISP may have been performing some housekeeping or had a 'blip' perhaps?

Possibly yea, either way i didnt notice any downtime during the time it said the session dropped.

I would trust the record-keeping of the modem/router more than I would trust an ISP's accounting software.

As others have already explained, it could be anything from a very short-lived disconnection that the ISP's accounting software did not record or that your ISP's software has suffered a "blip".

Basically, now that you understand what is involved, don't worry about such minor events.
