Hermitage gets faster even on a long line!

Over the last few days I've seen a significant speed improvement on Hermitage exchange:

Today 22:22 3203 kbps (400kB/s) 721 kbps (90.1kB/s)
Yesterday 23:40 2826 kbps (353kB/s) 721 kbps (90.1kB/s)
Jul 12, 21:43 2360 kbps (295kB/s) 355 kbps (44.4kB/s)
Jul 10, 20:40 2372 kbps (297kB/s) 381 kbps (47.6kB/s)

According to my Netgear:
Connection Speed 3936 kbps 844 kbps
Line Attenuation 55.5 db 30.4 db
Noise Margin 1.9 db 4.5 db

Does anyone know if this is due to the LLU/21CN uplift or is something else going on?

Yes your isp has moved you onto either the 21CN network (BT,Plus net etc) or llu if its TT that is your isp.

Low NM unless you've been playing with it. That sync should be attainable @ 6 dB NM.

No I've not played with NM. Here are latest figures:

Connection Speed 3801 kbps 850 kbps
Line Attenuation 56.0 db 30.4 db
Noise Margin 2.8 db 4.8 db

In which case looks like WBC ADSL2+ has given you a 3dB target

Would not have thought it go as low as 1.9. Mine never goes below 2.8.

When set to 3.0dB, my SNR would drop as low as 1.5dB before disconnecting. It might depend on the overall min/max values over a day. If I rebooted during the busy periods, my sync would be slightly lower with the SNR at 3.0, and as the quiet times started, the SNR would rise to as much as 4.x

at sync it will be 3dB, and then lowers until modem decides to resync.

Some modems hang on at -1dB particularly if no traffic over the link.

If I timed the sync of my modem to a little after dawn which would be at 3dB , it would rise a little during the day and drop down to 0dB most nights whilst retaining sync. Some nights it would drop down to a negative SNR and -1.0dB was the lowest I actually saw and I have screen shots at -0.7dB.

I actually achieved over 100 days without loss of sync with it dropping to 0dB most nights. A good stable line and a decent modem is what is needed.
