Conundrum?

Living in deepest darkest Norfolk there is at last a dim light on the horizon - BDUK funding...

However, looking at the timescales its unlikely I'll be ordering FTTC anytime soon.

Wispire are about to launch in my area so I have gone ahead and pre-ordered a 8mb service - for me that would be around 8 times faster than I can get on my my long rural line.

However, I've just had a read thru the Norfolk CC BDUK consultation paper and it seems to suggest that when looking to spend the money, anywhere with a Wi Fi service may be considered already covered (better than the min 2mb target)

Could be cutting our own throats here.....?

It may be you are in the 8% they expect to only see 2 to 5 Mbps from the project.

Are there any maps for Norfolk showing if you are in a white area for superfast and/or the 2 Mbps USC?

If white area, then the project will be doing something.

without any place names its hard to be sure, but I think I am in one of the white areas

The village is 5km as the crow flies from another village that has the exchange

However, most house are within 500m of the green cab so here's hoping

is that white for basic broadband or white for NGA ? should be two maps

an 8M wireless operator wouldn't count as NGA or make your area grey or black for NGA so BDUK money would be "allowed" but may be lower priority - local choice.
