Was phone connected on either of these?

Even speed from test socket is too slow. Should be about 2 Meg.

Could be faulty faceplate.

??

Well, it's faster w/out it and there are no wires attached to it, so ...

"mbs" doesn't really exist on broadband, it has to be a capital M. That's a minor issue as you must mean Mega not milli. A slight difference of a factor of 1 million smile.
Eh? Sorry Bob but according to my elementary mathematics, the difference between 10-3 and 10+6 is considerably more than a factor of one million! wink

Let's try a thousand million (which Americans call a 'billion'). laugh

(True explanation - I went up from kbps and down from bps).

No, phone wasn't connected on either. It was on the figures from last night, but not these.

How do we fix a faulty faceplate, if that is what it is? I'm guessing that's my resonsibility rather than BT's?

Should I wait and see what BT come back with after 'trying to fix the line'?

Thanks for you're responses...

I realise they are rare, but when you get better results w/out it, and nowt else changed (no wires), it's worth considering. Could be dirty/damaged contacts.

At the mo' we only have one trial. I think it is worth the OP trying more trials of with and w/out the faceplate (but not too frequently to cause DLM to react) and see if there is a consensus of opinion.

Of course these speeds are v. low anyway so their diff might be insignificant.
OTOH if speed is always about 200 K with faceplate and 700 K w/out faceplate, then it should make you wonder.

Hi All,

I've just come home from work.. broadband connection still in test socket, but the phone line is also connected.

Livebox reading:

Noise margin (dB) : 18.6
Attenuation (dB) : 61.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 1420
ADSL status : Connected [0]

Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 1402 826

Considrably higher - I think BT may have been working on it (as Orange has asked them to investigate).

Tonight i've noticed that speeds are faster - but this 'dropping out' issue still seems apparant.. For example - I'll be surfing the next, everything loading fast - all is good, and then suddenly it'll take 30-50 seconds to load a page or it will time out completely and throw out a 404 error... hit refresh, and it loads really fast? ... It's like it's loosing the connection and then getting it back?!

Don't know if this is even possible... but something is still not right!
