Do not know how to explain this, a friend wanted to move providers to TalkTalk(despite me telling him not to) TalkTalk showed it as a new line installation as it did not recognise his BT number but the advisor promised he would not be charged, anyway he has had issues and is leaving under a month after many complaints however there is some problem with getting a new provider, they recognise his number but show it as the TalkTalk order active since when the engineer came round he just changed the number.
TalkTalk are useless in getting this resolved so he is stuck with them.
I guess there is no way to contact openreach direct?

The answer is pretty much no.
I'm guessing that there is still Talk Talk service on the line.
Is it possible to go straight to the top and ask Dido Harding their CEO directly ?

it is the responsibility of the acquiring (new) provider to sort it out.

Isn't that the new plan, which isn't active yet?
In the old scheme, there needs to be some cooperation from the losing provider to enable things to go ahead. For non-LLU, that includes the MAC, but having orders and tags straightened out is, I guess, a part that applies to all lines.

The gaining provider has meant to take lead in tag disputes from some years now.
The firm that stands to gain is meant to help the consumer, now if it is about getting a MAC they should obviously guide the consumer to ask for it.

Interesting. I had a tag on my line that prevented a Plusnet order 18 months ago, left over from having Demon some 6 years earlier. I certainly had to do the chasing for that one, though it never got as far as being considered a "dispute".

it is their responsibility, as they have account managers and the like to access which end users don't. Doesn't mean most are any good at it - you may quickly become a customer gain that's not worth the effort I suspect.

He spoke to them again today, from what we gather what has happened was instead of taking over the line openreach did something at exchange that means it just added a new line, and since sky doesnt see the talktalk line as compatable it wants to order a new line but cannot as 2 active lines are showing.
Where can he go with this? I assume maybe he can get sky on the old line since its already sky but I assume thats easier said than done

There is far too much of this sort of incompatibility and stubbornness within the Broadband industry. One that annoys me, is the fact that the BT system refuses to recognise you and your number if you do not pay line rental to them direct.

It will always recognise your # when you have WLR, i.e. pay your line rental to another provider for a BTw line. You are confusing that with paying your line rental to a Full LLU ISP, like TT & Sky.
