BT cw1308 twisted pair or twisted cluster.

Is the white cable in the pic, within BT spec for CW1308?

It has plenty of signs of being cw1308 spec -
Tinned copper conductors, phone colours, but It looks like twisted clump cable, unlike the very tightly "twisted pair" ethernet cable.

The white cable at the bottom at the bottom of the picture ? Yep, that's telephony 8 wire.

It looks to me like the individual pairs twist, as well as the pairs twisting. Obviously not as tightly as the ethernet cable though.

It also looks like, if you start to untwist it, that you'd have to remove whole pairs from the bundle first, and then untwist the pair.

My understanding is that BT use 3-pair Cat5 for doing internal installations, so the twists should be the same as standard ethernet cable.

I could be wrong though......

Nah - definitely cw1308.

Telephony cable is sometimes referred to as "Cat 3", but I don't think that's an official title.

Hmm. No disrespect but check this out. It's near the bottom of the page.

Extract: "Genuine BT Field Engineer's ADSL extension kits using high quality Category 5e rated cable...." The guy at Clarity usually knows what he's talking about

That maybe so for data installation but for standard telephony CW1308 is still used and that was the initial basis of this thread.
