A long time since I have posted on here, having been very happy with my BE connection up until recently, and considering a change.
Now I am looking to change provider and only have a choice of ADSL2+ (no Virgin Media or BT fibre services here). I am very near to the exchange and get good speeds but have noticed most ISPs are listing "up to 16Mbps", yet I currently get faster downloads and obviously higher sync rate.
On some sites that show "up to 16Mbps" if I enter the phone number to do the line check it then quotes an estimated speed above 16, which makes me wonder why they only put 16 Mbps as the package speed? If I switch, am I going to be limited despite being able to do slightly faster (I want as fast as possible...) or is my short line length just going to allow as fast connection as technically possible as per my current connection despite what the ISPs are claiming as their package "up to" speed?
Thanks,
Simon
