Stuck on ADSL1

Yesterday my connection migrated from Xilo, who have been excellent the past 2 years to BT Broadband. I've only moved over for the free BT Sport and i'm already wondering if i've made a mistake.

It appears whilst I am still on 21CN, i'm stuck on ADSL1. Upload speed is 448k and my connection has gone from 6.8Mb to 5.1Mb.

Will DLM put me back on ADSL2+??

What exchange / what's your post code? Your exchange may not be 21CN enabled, but we can check that.

I was on 21CN on Xilo and have been for over a year.

Exchange is Hollinswood.

When I do a ping test on BT one of the hops is BT21CN.

For whatever reason DLM hasn't put you onto this. I would get in touch with BT regarding this, especially as the uploads quite low & would be far higher on 21CN.

I think I've seen reports here of people with estimates below 8Mbps being provisioned by BT Retail on ADSL rather than ADSL2+. Still on a WBC (21CN) connection, explaining the hop.

I've noticed a trend in people migrating to BT and having the same problem.

Annoying really.

If I plug my old router in and force ADSL2+ will it work?

The 448 isn't a limit of ADSL1 but is a profile issue, so needs ISP intervention.

You could try ADSL2+ only on the router, the worst outcome is it doesn't sync and you switch it back to multimode.

As Phil (almost) says, almost certainly not.
