Google.com homepage insanely slow after start up

Im on O2 LLU and get 14mb speed pretty much all day, I have very few add ons, my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop is protected by Norton and its as clean as a whistle, ive run spybot for malware and again its totally clean. When I boot up the laptop its taking about 60 seconds before I can do anything on the google.com homepage and my machine has IE10 as I thought IE 11 was awful. After the homepage comes to life the browsing is superfast as I remember it. I hate tabbed browsing so chrome or firefox are of no interest to me. Anybody had this or can offer any help to get the homepage to wake up a bit quicker ?

After the eternity it takes for the homepage to leap into action its as fast as I always remember it , im puzzled as to whats causing the big lull after start up.

How old is the laptop and which version of Windows?

The reason I ask is that in my experience, and I've seen others report it, over time all the MS patches that get installed can cause this. It seems they are just latched onto user hooks, not replacing code, and a guided tour of them results instead of a straightforward load of the original code.

Reloading Windows doesn't solve it. That just means all the updates have to be downloaded again, with the same result.

Have you tried it with a wired connection to the router (I assume you're talking about a wireless connection)?

It could be slow getting a connection- one of my laptops is doing that as age old age creeps up on it, or maybe you're getting interference from a neighbour on the same channel?

I had this problem with studio 1545

Reset IE , cleaned caches and deleted cookies and history. Still upon start up the google homepage is deathly slow . After the waiting for google message vanishes the machine is then very fast, This is seriously annoying and it never happened in the past. The laptop is fitted with windows 7 professional.

What else is running automatically upon start up?
