ISPs offering Constant Quality Monitoring

I�ve just discovered that FTTC became available from my BT cabinet in the last week or so. Speed and cost plus a few other factors suggest a possible change of ISP rather than an immediate my current provider.

Other than AAISP, are there any providers out there that offer constant quality monitoring and CMQ graph accessible by the EU?

They are the only one, but you can set up our BQM for many of the others.

2. Do BT recognise your graphs for fault investigation purposes?

Doubtful. Any engineer doing diagnostics will only trust officially authorised tools. Experience teaches you to eliminate unknown factors and ignore any results you didn't generate yourself. Too easy to waste time chasing phantoms otherwise.

This is no disrespect to TBB. Just many years experience as a software developer and occasional IT support staff. I'm sure TBBQM could be useful but I doubt anyone has the time to invest in vetting it for suitability.

In answer to 2.

Not officially however when I have spoken with support at BT Business the have been wiling to look at the BQM and list of speedtests as an indicators. Second line support have certainly looked at it and used it with me. They treat it as a diagnostic aid.

Hence why I do checks across providers when people post about possible issues with us.

NOTE: BQM is rare as in it is a tool run by people who control the network it runs on, so providers if looking at a widespread issue can interact with us at the network level

There is nothing stopping providers buying PingBox devices themselves and running this sort of thing for their customers. Or discussing other diagnostic options with us.
