SNR tweak and new faceplate making no change in speed?

Hello, I have been using a Billion 7800N on a fairly short line for a few weeks and decided to upgrade to try and get a bit more speed, On a 27db attenuation im sure its more like a 16-17mbp/s connection expected but i cannot figure out why the router always syncs in the region of 14000-15000. Using a BT openreach MK2 faceplate i fitted today we have gained about 100kb/s as before with the old master socket witch i think is to do with when i restarted the router not the new face plate. I tweaked the snr on the router down to 4.5db from 6db and we gained no speed? Can someone explain as when i use a snr tweak on my line (53db attenuation) i can pull out 6000kb/s from a normal 4900kb/s sync.

seems the provider has capped the speed so is not going more than 14000

try with the modem direct at the test socket with out any filter if will make any difference

Is this a BT based broadband product ? if so it could be DLM or the IP profile for the line or a combination of but preventing you getting more speed, interleave can also have an impact on sync speed the most iv'e had from a 28db line was 19.5mbps sync that was with a 4.0db margin , but was a llu based connection so no DLM or IP profiles, and was set to fastpath, (ADSL2 + ) Then with a different provider ,same line with annex M i got 16.5mbps on a 3db margin with annex m disabled i only got 17.5mbps , Different hardware chipsets sometimes make a difference too,

IP Profile Only affects throughput, it does not limit sync speed. It is actually calculated from the sync speed.

If this is a BT Wholesale connection is it possible a technique known as Banding has been applied that keeps the sync speed within a certain range has been applied.

Yes it's unlimited BT broadband, I'm using a Billion 7800n but have tried the BT HH5 and the sync speed is the same. The bt wholesale checker gives a reading of:
