What does it mean?

Just been using the BT Wholsale Checker and it it says Capacity expected 07 April 2014. I am not sure what it means, perhaps the Exchange will have no further capacity or perhaps the cabinet or even the subcabinet I am connected to? Could someone explain please.

Believe that in response to the capacity issues lately, that BT Wholesale is deciding to now add more customers on already over crowded exchanges.

Thanks, that does not sound good. I suppose that means that my already slow broadband is going to get slower still, especially in the evening.

The worrying thing is we are currently seeing it on around 30% of lines we are testing for customers enquiries.

To be honest I am still not sure what it really means. The exchange has now reached full capacity?

It is a small exchange in Boxford in Suffolk: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/EABFD with 1372 residential propeties and 50 none residential which got ADSL2+ only a couple of months ago. It is due to become fibre enabled by March 2015 thanks to BDUK although I am very unlikely to get fibre as I am 4 kilometres from my cabinet.

So, the bottom line for me is that my broadband is going to get even worse for me? If so in what way? Slower? Less reliable connection? If so it seems to me that BT Openreach is essentially a virtual monopally and are not investing as they should but just maximising their profit at the expense of their customers.

You need to understand the difference between BT Wholesale and Openreach.

BT Wholesale has competition for backhaul in exchanges that represent 96% of UK households.

The current issues are may not be specifically the capacity in the BT Wholesale backhaul from your exchange, but where it aggregates with others in the area.

Capacity issues like this usually hit one or more of the providers each year, just that this is the first major one on the WBC network that BT Wholesale run.

Right I fully understand now, I think!
I just did a speed test and looking at the graphs it would appear that I am not suffering from congestion so apart from feeling sorry for those who are waiting for new ADSL2+ services it would not appear to affect me.
