BT Retail or Plusnet, one will go

So I'm going to get shot of at least one of my FTTC lines at some point, and look into alternatives for one or both of them, which are fairly limited.

I don't use BT Sport, I don't use any of the value adds really, and I'm thinking that BT Retail can disappear in favour of the lower cost Plusnet, and I'll worry about what to replace it with.

Anyone think of any reasons not to follow this course of action and drop Plusnet instead?

FWIW, I would suggest that it is "Six of one & half-dozen of the other"!

Both have their "moments" of good/bad!

Indeed. Tempted to get shot of the BT one as they both use the same obsolete access network, both use the same transport network, only the last bit before the Internet that's different.

Will likely go purely by cost, tempted to get shot of both and move to a non-BT Wholesale supplier on one line and let the other die.

There's only Sky and TalkTalk. Both requiring line rental. Not my cup of tea.
