Hi guys,
Just after some advice in regards to the cabinet number my line connects on.
I live in Dorchester, which is predominantly FTTC enabled, unfortunately. My house is excluded from this.
Looking at http://fttc-check.alc.im tells me I'm "Not being deployed as part of the 66% Commercial Plan".
Curiously, it also tells me I'm on "Cabinet 0". I didn't know BT labelled cabinets as zero.
Looking at https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html with my number in gives a different cabinet number. "E4". I've been around Dorch scouting for a cabinet E4 but haven't been able to find it.
I'm quite close to the exchange. It's about a 3 minute walk from my house. What I'm thinking is could E = Exchange and mean I'm directly connected to the exchange, rather than a PCP cabinet? Which would explain my lack of FTTC at the moment.
I wish we had more transparency about the decisions in regards to cabinets and reasons for rollout exclusion in enabled areas. All I hear is Dorset councils talking about "super fast" and here I am slap bang in the middle of town with nothing but ADSL.
