My current sync on ADSL2+ is 7768 with a 5db noise margin, on a line with a 39db attenuation.
I put my stats into the checker at http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/calc/ and got this result
Expected speed at 39dB attenuation8350Kbps to 11600Kbps
This is in line with my feeling that apart from random periods of instability, my line under-performs. having done everything I can to ensure that there are no issues within my set up that can possibly affect this, and given that I have had several attempts at getting the line sorted properly what else can I do?
Since Vivaciti dumped us back onto Enta I have seen a slight decrease is speed, and pages seem slower to load and generally less "snappy"
Im taking it that the figures from the coolweb site point to what my line should be "technically" capable of it is in good order. Given that the FTTC roll out has bypassed my cabinet and Superfarce Wales can only give a vague indication that we will be upgraded at some point in the future, I feel forced to pursue all the performance I can from the crusty old copper loop that hangs off of this place.
Any thoughts?

Test socket make no difference to your figures at all?

Not noticeably and not in any pattern. each sync shows a small variance but I assume that is normal. Removed all the internal extensions some years back. most of the time I don't even have the DECT set up plugged in. The line has periods where it drops for no reason at random intervals then it settles for a period (usually up to around 4 weeks) then the drops start again.
The sync on ADSL2+ is not a lot more than I used to get on ADSLmax on IPSC.

Damn I was just trying to find the line length checker I used to use, Think the site has gone. Looks like I will have to wait till I have time to trawl back though my old posts to get the length. I know its less than 3km though, so not a hugely long line.
Saw a checker earlier that says while PCP29 is in the roll out plan for Pembroke - there is currently no projected date for FTTC service at my cabinet so looks like we will be passed over for the foreseeable future - which makes the poor ADSL2+ performance of my line even more of an issue. The other nearby Cabinet(PCP5 IIRC) isnt even in the roll out currently so this may explain why we are not getting looked at in a hurry, they are content to leave yet another area unfinished. It really is a farce the way they are doing this patchwork roll out.
Ive been very patient with this, but TBH Ive had enough of getting second rate service. Over 10 years of line drops and yo yo-ing speeds is more than enough.

The issue will be one of resources, i.e. only so many people working on each project, so cabinets are being done in the order they are, so while no date announced you do exist in a Welsh phase so should see FTTC in the next year or so.
Address 10 CROFT COURT, PEMBROKE, SA71 4NZ on Exchange PEMBROKE is served by Cabinet 5
Indicates P5 is live and with FTTC available.

Damn I was just trying to find the line length checker I used to use Mouselike.org UK Broadband Tools? But I don't find it accurate; it's recorded by BT but not measured. More accurate is putting your attn. in Kitz to give you good enough line length.

Indicates P5 is live and with FTTC available. Im a little down the road from Croft Court - but Pembrokeshire Planning gave me the junction as a reference for the revised site of the fibre twin for PCP29 which was scheduled to be installed the day after PCP30 in Merchants Park. (getting on for 3 months ago), "Ground issues" prevented it from going ahead at the time and now no one can tell me when it will finally happen, the installation teams seem to have fled the area, and im expecting to have to wait until next year - which means another wait, just like we had to suffer when Tenby and Haverfordwest were given ADSL2, it always seem to be Pembroke customers that get shafted.
Superfast Wales were suggesting to my AM that a new survey was required even after they told me that a new one had been done, now it seems no one has any idea when our "slot" will be reinstated. Lucky for those who got our cabinet and installation slot I guess, but sucks to be us on PCP29. Now Superfast Wales are even missing the 5 working day reply window that they claim to have.
Utterly useless.

Just ran the speedetest here We have tested your speed and have recorded an average download speed of: 6.42 Mbps so a small increase over last week.... as long as the higher sync lasts - but I know that wont be for long.

This cannot be right surely? I just wish someone would give me a clue about the cause. 10 years of head scratching has left me with a sore scalp. I feel a rant at my ISP Vivaciti coming on, it has got worse since the move back to BTw
