Openreach FTTC checker

[link to this post]

Looks like Openreach Where and When has been updated, can now select the house and also enter a telephone number!

And is useless!

I put in my two numbers in Scotland and get:

Exchange name: Rrrrrr

Superfast Fibre is in your area but we can't tell by your postcode/number if you can get it right now. Please contact your communications provider, who can check using your phone number.

If I put in the postcode and select any of the six addresses it comes back with:

Exchange name: Rrrrrr
Status: Accepting orders

Great news. Superfast Fibre is in your area and your cabinet is enabled and accepting orders. Contact your preferred communications provider for your home or business to order.

The Standard BT DSL checker tells me NO. And I know they are all EO lines - so how can it be "accepting orders". The postcode and those adjoining are all EO - and a majority of the exchange is such too.

That's a shame, it actually worked for me. It's definately an improvement but does need more work to make it accurate.

Mine is the same, DSL checker says Jun-15, When and Where says:

Exchange name: Hoyland
Status: Accepting orders

An improvement but they have removed the exchange spreadsheets, now only the accepting orders one is available.

I wanted to check and see if an exchange that is now enabled was down for FTTC & FTTP still. But it's not yet made it onto the accepting orders list...

The others are still available, but aren't linked from the W+W page.

Try following the URL for the "accepting_orders.pdf", and then manually substitute "coming_soon.pdf", "future_exchanges.pdf" or "under_evaluation.pdf"

Unfortunately they are slightly out of date, maybe they are being updated?

Still rubbish! Never metion of how fast your cabinet speed. Use this one instead as this one will tell u the cabinet speed: http://connectingshropshire.co.uk/when-and-where/

Openreach is ought to be ashamed themselves! They probably don't want to tell u what the cabinet speed is!

Looks very similar to the new Openreach one!

Phone number check says 51Mb
Postcode check says 60Mb

So not perfect either

Shouldn't that be "phone number is BT's best guess"? Don't know it is correct until a live service is put on as it can be way out.

BT estimated my phone number back in February was 77/19 and my IP Profile rate on bt system is 77.43Mb / 19.9Mb which it matched BT estimate speed except the post code show 80/20

So on a sample of 1 the BT system was accurate. There are others for which it isn't so accurate.

For me, the "Coming Soon" date has gone. So, a downgrade IMHO.

Edit - and only the Accepting Orders spreadsheet seems to be available now...

Mine has now been updated to the correct data:
"Exchange name: Hoyland
Status: Coming soon
Your area will be enabled within the next six months and we'll provide more details nearer the time. At the moment you can't order Superfast Fibre."

It looks to me as though they did a "Replace all" of the field for the outstanding ones, to give time to put the actual new dates in which they couldn't manage by the end of 2014.

Now they are doing that.
