Hi everybody
I am with Sky (previously O2).
My download speed has been consistent at around 3.2Mb/s with both providers
If I change to plusnet could I expect my download speed to remain the same ?
My exchange (congleton) is adsl2+ enabled.
The thing is Sky says I should get 2.3Mb to 3.3Mb so thats what I'm getting
plusnet says I should get specifically 2Mb
A drop of 1Mb may not seem a lot to some but it's 33% to me ) or are they just covering themselves for worst case.
Thanks in advance for your greater knowledge

If you weren't losing the connection daily a reasonable chance it might have gone faster
With the wbc dlm a risk it might impose a higher target margin and be slower
Only way to know is try, a risky move

Thank you very much for your response MrSaffron, I'll chase up the connection problem. In actual fact I do remember getting 4 Mb in the past

Just an update which I think is significant with Plusnet.
Hidden in their support pages is the following:
"*If your estimated speed is below 4Mb, we'll provide an ADSL1 service even if ADSL2+ is available. This is to give you a more stable and reliable service and a better broadband experience."

If the router allows you to select a particular modulation mode instead of multimode try ADSL1/G.DMT (G.992.1) instead of ADSL2 (G.992.3), you should hopefully find the settings somewhere in the router's graphical user interface (GUI).
It should be a more stable connection unless there are issues with your line.
FYI :- ADSL2+(G992.5)

Thanks for that but I think there is a known issue with O2 routers on Sky.
My issue is I'm leaving Sky but don't want a reduction in speed. I think I've answered my own question for not going to Plusnet.
My only other option is TalkTalk who are predicting an increase in speed !. I'm guessing in reality that my speed will be the same with them.
If I move to TalkTalk will they actually do any cabinet/exchange rewiring ? which maybe could solve my other problem of my connection dropping out at least once a day.

Be aware that upstream speeds on TalkTalk ADSL2+ are capped at 1020 kbps, but judging by your attenuation I don't think you would be hitting that cap anyway.

There are a few slightly out of date things I really ought to fix, but overall it is a decent noddy guide. Links to more in-depth ones given in a few places in it.

Well I went with plusnet and my download has been 3.4Mb/s so far, This is as expected for my neighbours phone but for some reason not the 2.0 predicted for my copper. I'm a happy bunny
