mobile- I only have 1 bar of 2g
- vodaphone saying that they are making stronger 2g when everywhere else has 3g
Broadband - adsl - should be 7mbps download according to DSL. I only have 1.5mpbs
- not even getting fttc until October
I am so annoyed!!!

Vodafone doesn't have much 3G coverage UK wide. Other providers are likely to be better mainly EE is the most likely to have 4G/3G.

Yeah i got to say i love EE signals I've not found myself without 3G yet even when i was on a farm in the middle of nowhere which was pretty surprising.

I can go from EE 4G then 10 feet away indoors drop to GPRS.
Getting some elevation helps of course.
Was a surprise to find their 4G network was here, after years of GPRS on both Vodafone and Orange. The Vodafone is so flaky I have a SureSignal.

Join the club, 1 bar of 2g outside my house on O2 only, forget the others. ADSL market 1 exchange, currently 2mbps, FTTC around October this year with a 69% chance of getting Superfast broadband according to our local BDUK website. I don't even class myself as "out in the sticks".

He's got probably the UK's best steam railway, and the station Downton Abbey filmed at in the village. No need for internet

I can go from EE 4G then 10 feet away indoors drop to GPRS.
Only some masts have so far been 4G'd - but eventually they all will. GPRS from EE is also transmitted at 1800mhz the same as EE's 4G, so there is probably something (hill?) blocking the signal from the 4G mast to you, so you're getting another mast that hasn't bee upgraded yet.
Was a surprise to find their 4G network was here, after years of GPRS on both Vodafone and Orange. The Vodafone is so flaky I have a SureSignal.
Yes Vodafone has been useless, just look at Ofcom maps! They decided to spend money in other countries and ignored the UK for a long time. O2 just didn't have the money, but they spent on 3G where they could, so you can often get a very slow 3G signal from O2 where Vodafone has GPRS. They are both throwing out 4G very fast, but it requires new price plan and 4G compatible phones. EE will be ahead for a couple of years yet, then Voda may be their equal.

We are still waiting for fibre. We have ADSL2+ but not had it long. The fibre website says within 18 months and its still at planning stage for our exchange.

Openreach fibre availability doesn't affect mobile phone companies.

I followed that link through to-
https://www.elibrary-openreach.co.uk/Engineering-Sol...
"
With us, you can draw on the expertise of more than
20,000 engineers. Between them, theyve amassed nearly
750,000 years experience in assessing and tackling a
multitude of onsite engineering challenges.
"
If the figure of "20,000" is reasonably accurate (I have seen 25,000 elsewhere), then they on aveerage must have 37.5 years of service, very close to the typical of 40 years at retirement.
I wonder if OR/BT is training replacements?

Might do

Okay Openreach would like it to, but the mobile networks are using Virgin and Vodafone are using their networks division (formerly C&W).

Got a septic tank here. Also no piped gas.
So we have piped water, electricity, 10mbps VDSL and a nice variation in phone signals varying from O2's useless GPRS to Vodafone 4G
