Anyone suggest why my router internet led is red (ref. http://help.demon.net/files/2013/03/TG582n-User-Guid... when I can still browse the web, send email etc. ?
Obviously the led could just be faulty, but they usually work or not rather than show the wrong colour.

Could just be a logic error in the router caused by a blip in the software. You are absolutely certain that you are connected to your router? Have you checked the log to see if there are any events that might explain it?

Thanks. Never thought about the software side.
Yes, quite sure I'm connected as my above message was posted and I read your reply.
Will have a look at the log, thanks.

I suspect you are connected to your router but the purpose of my question was whether you were certain it was YOUR router you were connected to - there are occasions where people are connected to a neighbours router without realising (either because the neighbours router had no security on it or because they had access via BT FON type services).
But, I would put my money on a small software bug that would be fixed by a reboot of the router (or by ignoring it).

Ah, sorry. lol Yes, just had to enter my details to log into router to check log.
I think you are right about software error as all that is in log is a few protocol errors etc.
One thing that did strike me as odd is that the date/time is totally wrong.
As you say, will leave well alone until a reboot is required.

Maybe it has given a red light because it is failing to connect to an internet time server to correct the date/time? It doesn't say so in the manual but who knows what error conditions the programmers might have built in that didn't make it to the user guide.

Another possibility: cheers.
