Strange issue with receiving calls on landline

Came home today and was told by my sister who tried to ring that she was getting a beeping noise when trying to dial home. I rang her on the landline it worked fine. Tested by ringing the landline on my mobile and the call connected first time, but not the second time. So whatever it is seems intermittent.

So this is what ive been able to gather

1) We have a dial tone
2) Broadband works fine
3) Tested 2 spare phones same issue
4) Tested from the test socket same issue

Ive used the BT line test for a callback and that worked fine everytime i tried it. So does things like 1471.

So not sure what it could be? Going to have to ring BT see what they say

By 'beeping noise' do mean the engaged tone ?

Same tone but seems slower than the engage tone, if that makes sense

More like when you dial an international number that ring tone

Edit: Too add sometimes i get nothing and the call from my mobile to the landline will just drop

Rang BT line is fine.

Only numbers we have tried ringing with are o2 and EE which are apparently effected. Waiting for our neighbour to get in to test with their landline.

Cheers mate if this is the issue i owe ya one. Saved a call out by a BT engineer. The girl from CS in India didnt have a clue about this

On another note why dont BT and other companies update their god damn service status pages? This has been a confirmed problem by BT (going on what the registry say) yet their website doesnt mention anything. Same with o2. Giffgaff just started reporting it now

My EE mobile isn't ringing out on calls (from 11 miles south of Manchester) to a Manchester landline, just total silence. This was about 16:45.

Soon after, I got a text to the same mobile from the person I was calling. His phone had rung, he answered it, and was met with silence. His caller display was showing my number.

Ah. Sods law we only have EE and O2 phones in the house, so when both didnt work on the landline assumed it was that

Is the problem your sister had still present though. All that the EE/O2 thing tells us is that you using your mobiles for diagnosis may be pointless.

Not sure she is working at the moment. The 2 mobiles in our house that didnt connect the call to the landline do now though, so assume hers will too.
