Been looking at the openreach where and when site and put my telephone in. It says on the map that the exchange is fibre enabled but refer to the journey indicator for cabinet info, which says exploring solutions.
Any ideas what this means?
Exchange: NEWN
Cabinet: 2

It possibly means that your cab is small serving relatively few properties and isn't considered to be commercially viable by BT and that any upgrade will need to be funded by BDUK or other parties as is or has happened for cabs 1, 4 & 9.

So 1,4 and 9 are fibre enabled? I always thought cab 2 was the main cab serving the village.

Cabinet 1 was enabled in September 2015 and No. 9 in November 2015
Cabinet 4 is scheduled to go live by January 2017.
You need to ask http://www.digitaldurham.org/ - the local BDUK body what the plans are for the other cabinets

Thanks that site has a where and when checker and it says they are looking into possible government extension funding for my postcode and to check back after Jan 2016.

Contact them via email, or get in touch with the local council.
I'm in North Tyneside and have had confirmation from the ouncil and DigitalDurham that my cabinet is scheduled for upgrade in Q3 this year (September-December) however it doesn't yet show on the Openreach or Digital Durham where/when checkers.
They only got the spreadsheet of cabinets to be upgraded from BT about 10 days ago, so it may take a few weeks for the sites to get updated.

Got in touch and they will have more info in April but looks like the upgrade will be government funded. Registered on the site too.

Yeah I was told that from Digital Durham too but the IT officer in my council has the spreadsheet from Openreach confirming which cabinets and dates. I suspect DD don't want to give this information out just yet so I'd try your council.

Looks like it's going ahead, the Where and When site now says in design for my cabinet.

MCM
none of that exchange was commercially viable - too small I assume so any cabs done will be under bDUk -- I assume some done early as they were within VFM threshold -- other coming later -- but all by bDUK

Yep Openreach seem to have updated their systems this weekend. I've just checked my postcode again on the back of your post and my cabinet is now also showing as in design, on Thursday it was still showing exploring solutions
