EE to retain brand, network and shops, says BT We will operate a multi-brand strategy with UK customers being able to choose a mix of BT, EE or Plusnet services, depending on which suit them best, said BT CEO Gavin Patterson. Link.
BT Wholesale expanded and renamed BT Wholesale and Ventures to include some EE functions, and an EE man becomes its boss.

Because BT buying EE does not decrease the number of mobile providers in the country.

Ofcom don't like the idea of the current 4 networks reducing to 3. BT buying EE did not reduce the number of networks.

Because BT buying EE does not reduce the number of mobile network operators, whereas Three buying O2, does.

Looks like EE will retain control of everything except price - Plusnet revisited. One thing for sure, their dire customer support cannot get any worse.

Ok but BT would have been a big player separately without the takeover and do have their own 4g frequencies.

MVNOs never really seem to pan out like that. If you think about it the only real "big players" are the actual networks themselves.

Your mention of MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) there is a new kid on the street iD Mobile with SIM only revolutionary refreshing prices. I now have one mobile phone with EE and my main mobile phone with iD Mobile on 4G network and one month contract.

Good for you. Your comment adds nothing to the discussion though. iD are not doing as well as some expected them to do.
