Title says it all, really. The main trunking terminates, underground, only yards from my house, and many of my neighbours are enjoying 76 Mbps. But BT (chat with a human, of sorts) and other suppliers like PlusNet, insist that fibre is not available.
We are slightly unusual here, in that there is, as far as I know, no 'green cabinet'. This is in Cornwall, and our village was fibred last summer.
What to do?

What does the DSL checker say for your phone number? http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome

Up to 2 Mbps, ADSL only.

That's why the ISPs are saying not available.

I know... but what can I do about it. Dig my own trench?

For the postcode, it says we are enabled. For the phone number, it says 'We're working with government and industry to explore ways to bring Superfast fibre to as many people as possible but don't have a plan for your area yet. '
They installed it last July.
Maybe they've put a stop on more trenching into Cornish granite. Our topsoil is thin, and the rock is hard.
My next-door neighbour was until recently a senior member of Cisco's staff. He, and *his* next-door neighbour, have 76 Mbps.

What do both those sites say for his address?
What exchange and cabinet does the Wholesale ADSL checker advise you're on?
Can't check short-term, as I don't have the numbers to hand, and one is ex-directory and apparently not on the BT database. It's a good line of attack, though. I will enquire.

Your cabinet is probably full, like others have asked, what exchange and cabinet?
Post code also helps.

You can use full address instead of phone number for both those checkers.
If the cabinet was full it would still show estimated speeds. It would advise there's a waiting list.
We need to see what cabinet and exchange the OP is served by before we can comment further.
There's also the possibility of it being a records issue.

You don't have your own phone number to check?
Ex directory wouldn't matter, if it's a non LLU line it'll be on the Wholesale database.

LOL. No, I mean the phone numbers of the neighbors who have 76 Mbps.
I will try addresses.
Okie doke. Can you tell me your exchange and cabinet number?
And that of your neighbours?
AFAIK there is no cabinet - at least not in our village. The exchange is St Buryan, 01 736. In fact I was told firmly by a passing BT engineer in 2013 that 'You will never get high-speed broadband, as you don't have a green cabinet'. Less than a year later, the fibre arrived. Hard to miss, with all the noise that accompanies trenching into granite.
I have now tried address matching on the DSL site for two known fibred premises, but no luck for either: in one case 'address cannot be matched', for the other 'Your address has been successfully matched; however we cannot determine ADSL availability at this address'.
I ought to add that this is a slightly unusual community: lots of secretive people

I see Moonfleet can get FTTP
Your exchange appears to be FTTP only. I suspect it's a records issue if your neighbours are able to get FTTP. When you say neighbour, what sort of distance are we talking between properties?
Is your postcode any of the ones shown aginst cabinet 1-4 or exchange 1-4?

As I posted, exchange is St Buryan, 01 736.
AFAIK there is no cabinet here - certainly not near me: the downstream big fibre terminates in an access pit about ten yards from my gate.
But they may have installed a cabinet somewhere else. It's dark and rainy now, so I don't fancy going out to look for one, but I will tomorrow.

Your Postcode will probably be needed, possibly best if you send it via PM to someone, say Paul Kirby, if you're as secretive as your neighbours.

Or if you're not part of the tin foil hat brigade, you can just pop up your post code

Post code will tell us the exchange, which we already know IIRC. Nothing else. Cannot be trusted for this sort of question as a given postcode can be served by several cabinets, and FTTC/FTTP availability is by cabinet.
We need either the cabinet number, or to be told it is EO. There will be a "cabinet", even if underground.

We know it's EO. This exchange is all EO. Except for the postcodes that show FTTP on codelook seem to have one of those E_ cabinet numbers.
No it isn't all EO. There are cabinets.
If the poster wants to email me Monday morning [email protected] with phone number and address can look into it.
Our checker has most of village on FTTP but there is one or two that are not.
If it does look like there is a checker mistake on the BT side have had some success in getting things fixed
