GCHQ floats plan to share its DNS filters

They are not serving the DNS but providing their filters to the ISPs to filter out the baddies

but once enabled this would provide a simple method of switching off any Internet connection from any enabled ISP. "Sorry page not found" / "server not known".

and it would allow the UK government the ability to see every server an individual was connecting to and when, ala mini Phorne from 2-3 years ago?

99.9% of any UK "internet" users would not know what DNS is. (not tested via impirical evidence smile )

I suspect quite a few younger internet users have learnt about DNS when Googling how to bypass things like the Sky Broadband Shield (which is easily bypassed by switching to Google DNS).
