Anyone use "Web of Trust" browser add-on?

A popular secure browsing tool has been pulled from web stores following a privacy lapse.

The Web of Trust (WoT) add-on is used by millions of people to check if sites safeguard data and are safe to visit.

An investigation by German broadcaster NDR found that the firm behind it sold user data without properly anonymising it.

NDR was able to identify individuals' sexual preferences, health and surfing histories from data that was sold.

I wouldn't allow WOT on any of my systems. I warned people about that add on 6 years ago.

WOT was never accurate , gathered data and any extension like that is just another vector for attackers to use against your browser.

I only recently installed it following a recommendation and had already noticed it claiming some perfectly reputable sites were not. Anyway, that was short-lived, gone now.

As far as i'm aware there's no such thing of a web of trust and everyone should refrain from using any type of such add-on, irrespective of the developer

what i was meaning my friend is that people like myself don't endorse any of these types of websites or add-ons as the people behind them have not been independently scrutinised smile

sorry you saw my reply like that as nothing could have been further from the truth' as i've never been classed as condescending by any person throughout my 16 years of helping out in forums

you highlighted a link to a website The Web of Trust (WoT) add-on that i've never heard of and that was my reply

sorry for any offence and will stay away from such threads in future
