WBC FTTC 18x2 Sim Availability

Hey folks. Happy holidays!

I've just had another look at the checker and it states "yes" for the WBC FTTC 18x2 Sim Availability option. What does it mean? I've had a look at different providers availability but none offer 18x2 for me. I've seen others post about the updated availability checker but nothing about the "sim" part.

I belive there is or was a special offer on the 18/2 product at the wholesale level which wasn't available on simultaneous provides, hence the separate listing.
It's down to the CP's which wholesale products they sell. I believe the 18/2 product is being targeted at specific lines.

For you the 18x2 product would at best only give 3x1 and more likely the 1.5x0.5.

The existing ADSL2+ is still likely to be better. It looks like you are a very long way from the cab!

Not sure which ISP is offering the 18x2 product but it is a very limited subset (1 or 2).

I get double the speeds showing on the availability checker. I currently get around 8-10 mbps with adsl 2+. So i imagine i'll get around 5-7 on fibre but won't hold my breath as i know the drop off after 2 and bit km is pretty steep with vdsl.

I'm currently around 3.2km from the exchange and 2.9km from the cab. That's by road which i think the line follows.

I honestly just want to try fibre and see how the line handles it at my current distance but current prices for fibre (38mbps) and cancellation charges are stopping me. That's why i'm hoping for a cheaper upto 18mbps option.
