openreach gave me a 100 percent increase in speed!

I live 3 miles from exchange, no fibre unfortunately, so I have to make do with ADSL. Anyway, been with sky, speeds have been rubbish for 2 years.. so they sent out a new router, didnt make a lick of difference

Support changed my noise margin from 3db to 6db, which made my connection more stable, but only speeds of 2900kbps with attenuation of 51db

so openreach came today, they went to cabinet, and now I have speeds of 5900kbps, I'm thrilled!

I didn't think that was possible on such a long line!

I just hit 605kb/s download speed, I'm amazed, didnt think it was possible.. all these years on 200-400kb/s

Line Attenuation 50.5 dB 29.8 dB
Noise Margin 7.0 dB 8.8 dB

I'm wondering whether asking sky to drop my line profile to 3db would be wise, faster speeds but maybe more disconnects?

With the sync speed you have and the corresponding attenuation no sign of aluminium being involved now. E-side means cable heading back to the exchange, so maybe you've gone from Al to Cu on that element

Does your router show error counts, CRC, FEC, and such .... This might give a clue to the answer to your question.

650kbps on a line at 5900kbps is not exactly fast.

Yeah I always rush when typing, when I download I see 650KB/s, I'm quite amazed im seeing these speeds as most I've ever got was 700 when I used to use the tool that dropped noise margin down to like 1 or 2
