How to interpret HG612 telnet information

As i'm not that familiar with telnet, i was wondering if someone could help me understand the information gained.
I have been swapping routers around for the past few days due to re-syncs and general hardware problems, I am not sure if there is an underlying problem with the line and wondered if anything can be deciphered from the line stats.

Last night i finally found an old unlocked HG612, reminiscence of our old (slower) FTTC service. I connected it up and got it working and it seems to have held a steady speed, albeit around 1mb/s slower than any NETGEAR and BT hubs i have had connected in the past.


Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You appear to be on ADSL Max. Is that what you expect?

I think the HG612 has chosen G.DMT as its preferred connection mode. I can manually check different options but at the moment ALL is selected. I will have to try ADSL2+ if the router re-syncs.

Would ADSL2+ be a better option?

On that attenuation I would recommend ADSL2, not ADSL2+.

The attenuation on ADSL2+ could well be 3dB higher and the modem wrongly use that to negotiate a lower sync. The attenuation on ADSL2 will be the same as on G.DMT.

I will definitely give it a try. I think the upload is also capped at 448, I will ask BT about that.

448Kbps is the maximum upstream on ADSL Max. 832Kbps is the maximum on ADSL MAX Premium. ADSL Max Premium, if still available, costs more of course, and depending on ISP may only be supplied on "Business" packages..

Which other 'old routers' do you have ?

Something that doesn't have a built in VDSL modem like a Home Hub 4 or 3 maybe ? One of these working would prove you are now connected ADSL rather than VDSL.

I've had a NETGEAR DGND3300v2 and a 2wire 2701HGV-C running for the last few days.

So I have the wrong end of the stick, you already knew you were on ADSL ?
