Moving house and telco while keeping the same phone number

Hi all,
I'm currently about to move house (a week or so) to a new property with no phone line yet on the same exchange.

We're currently with BT retail, but Sky have offered us a much better deal if we switch, and I want to do that.

Going though Sky's site, it says I can't keep my landline number when I move, I don't know if that's because it's a different address or something else?

Anyone else done this? BT and Sky can't reassure me that I will keep my number, and I really need to.

Shouldn't be a problem, but you could always port the number to a VOIP provider

Should have thought about this a few weeks ago.....you need to grin and bear it with BT or you should have moved to sky a few weeks/months ago. House move (same exchange and wanting to keep number) and provider switch at the same time is problematic.

As @Batboy says best bet is to port old number to VOIP and have a new number from SKY.
