New Phone line - Is it a new Cable

[link to this post]

I know the duct from the manhole where my existing phone line comes from has collapsed.

If i order a new / additional phone line do they use a pair from the existing cable that comes in to the house or would they run a new cable from the cabinet outside? (and would they just fix the collapsed duct in the process?

(relatively new build property)

Thanks

If there is an additional working pair, it will get used. I suspect the duct will only be fixed when it's causing a problem.

Thats probably saved me some money then Thanks

I'm convinced my broadband is worse that everyone else in the street its even visible in the checker, was going to cough up for a new line in the hope they would fix the duct / with the thought that is somehow causing the problem.

(also want the duct fixed as they couldn't pull a rope through for FTTP and thought it was an opportunity to get it cleared).

So i actually think i've got an issue with the line - Dialling in to conference calls every day and I've found myself having to dial the number 2 / 3 times just to get in.

Other than that the checker shows every other house in the street up to 17mb and me at 12 - i'm getting about 6.

So have you reported a voice issue, or maybe even a broadband issue to its relevant supplier ?

It's all so marginal that i don't know if i've got the energy to try getting someone out.

Thats why i was asking - was actually prepared to stump up for another line if it would have forced them to pull a new cable.

But unless that specific cable length is full, that will not happen.
