Hi
I have the BT fibre broadband with the latest home hub router. I want to replace the router with something better though. I have a lot of devices and find I have to reboot this router every few days when something loses communication. I'd also like something that can support VPN.
What do you suggest?

Have you tried splitting the wifi into 2.5 and 5 with separate SSIDs and p/words for both first ?

Doesn't solve my vpn issue though - I want an upgade

No option on BT Home Hub to enter details for a VPN

Sorry, I don't understand. Do you want the router to have a VPN client so it can connect to the internet via a VPN server, or do you want remote clients to dial into your network using a VPN server in your router?

The former - I want to be able to enter the details of a VPN client onto the router, for outgoing connections

I must admit, I thought Id seen a screen for this within the 6s pages somewhere ???
(Mind you, my memory is dreadful)

I've looked but I cant find anything.
I would prefer to upgrade. I've lost confidence in this router.

My router supports this, however it's a software router, pfsense, running on a virtual machine on my server.
Does this help? https://www.cloudwards.net/best-vpn-router/

What have you got for the DSL sync?....that is a (cable) router and I think the BT smart hub 6 cannot be run in bridge mode.

According to the user interface menus, the BT Homehub 6 (BT Smart Hub) has been designed to work with most virtual private network (VPN) software. I assume you have signed into the user interface at the 192.168.1.254 IP address. The advanced settings include a page for VPN, So click on advanced settings. Then, navigate to the Home/Advanced Settings/Broadband page (admin password required). Next, click on the VPN tab.

Thank you bob_lucas, I thought Id seen it lurking in there somewhere.

Bob,
the Homehub 6 works well with a VPN located on the local LAN, mine is running on one of my Synology NAS boxes (a DS1812+). What the OP is asking for however is a router or router/modem that itself includes a VPN rather than simply having the ability to connect an external user to a VPN on the internal LAN.
