HG612 Unlocked - ECI Exchange Chipset - G.INP?

Hello everyone,

I recently moved home and am now with Vodafone FTTC on a 76mbps package.

I decided to ditch the vodafone modem / router and today started using an unlocked HG612 3B modem I picked up from ebay, together with my ASUS AC88U router running wrt-merlin using PPPoE.

So far everything seems fine although I have noticed a drop in my line speed from about 47mbps to 39mbps. I just wanted to check if there is anything I can do to improve my connection as I seem to get 'interleaved path' and only occasionally 'fast path'. I game and would like to have everything as good as I can get it.

I ran DSL stats today for the first time and this is my log:

I see G.INP is not enabled. Is there anything I can do about this? I checked my local cabinet online and it seems to be running an ECI chipset. I thought these now are OK with G.INP?

Occasionally when I checked my old vodafone router stats it would say 'fast path'. I assume this is preferred over 'interleaved' and wondered if there is anything I can do to get back on this, or alternatively anything I should be checking and keeping an eye on in DSL stats as most of it is over my head.

That is a Broadcom Chipset on the Cab. Might have to wait a few weeks for G.INP.

Broadcom? From the online searches it came back as ECI. Is this good news for me? I thought it was only the Huawei which worked well with G.inp?

Also can I ask why it might enable in a few weeks for me? Is that whilst open reach monitors my connection? Do I need to ask them to retrain my line?

Yes its Broadcom you modem wouldn't lie to you that is what BDCM stands for.

DLM takes a few weeks to enable G.INP when a connection is first enabled as I have seen on other lines and my own line. Monitoring is all done by "robot" and depending on errors should enable G.INP after approx. 7 weeks or may be quicker.

Just sit tight you should get a sync increase when/if G.INP is enabled.

Online searches can be wrong, e.g. plenty of exchange level info out there but the detail per cabinet is needed

Given a cabinet and exchange it can usually be double checked by people on here

When you say new line do you mean once you swapped the modem to a G.inp enabled one?

My line is not 'new' per se in that I had it installed and running with a vodafone modem since early january. I have now swapped the modem for the HG612 G.inp enabled one. Will I still see g.inp enabled in a few weeks possibly or does this only happen during the initial 10 day training period?

Any site that talks about 10 day training period for FTTC - ignore all advice.

FTTC DLM system runs forever, and can decide to change things like G.INP at any time, seems to take a couple of weeks to make its mind up on G.INP

And that includes ISP help lines, unless the helper points out it isn't true but they aren't allowed to do anything till it's over, because BT Wholesale insist it is.
