Issue with porting ISDN2 from BT

[link to this post]

Does anyone have any contacts at BT they can maybe get to help with an ISDN2 line where BT's back-end systems don't list a DDI range that we have (and is working) which is preventing a port?

Going round in circles between departments with no-one being able to sort!

Thanks,
Adam

I had this a few years back where I wanted to change two of the ISDN2e numbers (out of three and non-sequential), one to PSTN and the second to BTs Broadband voice (VOIP). It took a lot of calls and I believe I started a complaint (not at CEO level though) and then it was finally done manually. I will have a dig around to see if I can find any contact details but don't hold out much hope.

Recently, I then moved them both to a third party VOIP which had a few issues and I hate to think what might have happened if I had wanted to go from ISDN2e directly to a third party.

We had this about a year ago, for a block of 10 numbers. The answer was that the numbers were 'associated numbers' and not the DDI range that our voip provider expected it to be. And just to top it off, BT insisted we pay for the failed request!

The resubmission went through with no problem.

From several years back and caused some headaches back then!

There is no guaranteed ability to port blocks of 10 numbers, the minimum is a block of 100. IF your 10 are the only ones within the block the whole block can be ported ( if the new provider is prepared to go down that far and take ownership of the block, this may involve payment for the block to OFCOM).

However it is usually possible for BT to split the block and port each individual number of the ten. This is slightly complex AND will not always be possible ( to do with decode structure and resource on some exchange types). This will involve downtime as the number block has to be removed and rebuilt at a lower level and therefore everybody involved ( may be other CPs as well as BT) have to agree, which makes it very messy!

Some groups of ten numbers were allocated to ISDN2 which are NOT a DDI range BUT are in sequence, again these have to be ported individually. This may be your issue and will need a request to port each number and the new CP may have to pay for each number to be ported.

Difference between DDI and a group of 10 individual are to do with the way the exchange handles or doesn't handle the last number(s).
