BT Smart Hub 2 + Tenda Nova MW3-3 Whole Home Mesh System

[link to this post]

Hi All,

Getting BT Superfast 50Mbs, (At last been on 6Mbs for the last 6 years). As a pensioner in a big house, wifi and cost can be a problem.

1. Has anyone used the Tenda Nove MW3-3 Mesh wifi system with the BT Smart Hub 2?

2. Is it an improvement on conventional wifi extenders and worth the money? (I know this model is cheap)

Thanks in advance for any comments.

BT come with Wi-Fi Discs. To do this.

Have used them before to beat no wifi sports and they were very good.

+1 for BT Whole Home WiFi if your coverage is not good enough with the standard hub.

Thanks, I am aware of the Disc. But paying £10 a month for infinity. Tend systemits a purchase at £69.99. of 7 months @ £10 and that's paid.

I thought the Smart Hub came with some discs anyway? That might be enough. Otherwise BT do the whole home system for any ISP as a one-time purchase product.

If they want you to rent the discs, then I understand buying outright.

No, the hub doesn't come with the discs. You have to buy an extra package for £10 a month. That gives one disc but if that doesn't cover the house they will send additional discs. Fine in the short term but gets expensive over the long term.

At an additional £10/m

The question is really should I pay for the £10/m BT deal or are the £80 one-off devices good enough?

Without someone having used the ones mentioned hard to say. Most people who've self done this talk about the Ubiquiti solution which is more expensive.

I've installed a few mesh systems and the Ubiquiti is by far and away the best system I've come accross.

I do not like the tenda MW3, MW6 is better but you might as well get the bt complete wifi at that cost.

EDIT: I found it crashed requiring manual reboots, and speeds were struggling to go over 40Mbps on a 80Mbps sync, but that could be my home setup and thick walls. I now use a Sky Q Booster, the latest stand up model, which is AC2300, this covers the same area 2 of the MW3 used too and gives me full speeds.
