Acceptable packet loss fttc

[link to this post]

I have set up a BQM and seen that I get intermittent 1% packet loss on my connection.

Is this sort of packet loss typical of FTTC and is it something you have to just live with?

Depends on how intermittent e.g. if it coincides with you using making heavy use of a connection then it might just be very delayed packets rather than lost.

Thanks for your reply. The packet loss happens more when there is more activity on the line such as gaming or streaming and definitely when the line is at full use but it is fairly constant. If I do a ping test during minimal use, out of 100 pings there would often be one that is dropped which appears consistent with the results I have seen in the graphs.

It is possible that this is the router giving priority to TCP packets and treating ICMP ping with low priority.

If the gaming is lagging/warping then its probably real.

Thanks for the update. I think you maybe right it could well be my router deprioritising the packets, as in game looks ok. Thank you for the help.
