Squeezing more from EO line

Hi
On EO line. Yup central London!
Question is, is it worth getting an adsl box where i can tweek the noise margin?

Info:
Distance to exchange 1.3Km

NowTV adsl/router box. (same as latest sky)

With different provider I got 17Mbps actual on speed tests.
Currently 11.5Mbps actual on speed test.

If the noise margins aren't transposed and it really is 3.9 on the downstream then there is little room to tweak - lowest it would normally be sensible to go would be 3 which is not going to give you a massive lift.

However, a different router with a different chipset may give you the speed boost back to where you were - it is possible that the router you are using now doesn't work so well with the cabinet type you are connected to.

Just to clarify its an EO line so no cabinet. But guess what you say still applies?

I am assuming you had a change of router when you changed ISP? It is possible that changing to a different router could improve your speeds.

yes exactly - when with BT had bt hub4.
presently with Nowtv (sky) and have their latest hub.
