Will I be able to retain my current email address with VM or will I have to alter all bank account numbers etc.

Thanks

Just found the following info online

"If you cancel your Virgin Media broadband, you have 90 days to access your Virgin Media email before it vanishes forever"

Best get yourself something like a Hotmail account to prevent this happening again in the future.

Or, to use a more recent example, Outlook.com, Gmail, Yahoo, or similar. smile

Or pay something like a £1 a month to register a domain and receive e-mails to that domain (e.g. [email protected] or similar). Just checked the IONOS site and that is their current offer so no doubt other providers will have similar deals.

Depends what you need the e-mails for as some sites/accounts at the business end of the spectrum are a bit sniffy about hotmail type accounts.

Whilst the other answers are correct. My partner cancelled with Virgin 3+ years ago, and was told the same thing .... her Virgin email account still works.

While Virgin are known to be inconsistent in closing the email accounts of former customers, it would be best not to rely on on an acount staying open, Being locked out of an email account isn't fun when it's needed to reset passwords, etc.

I have had the same email address for almost 3 decades. Mail for my domain is accepted by the supplier of my mail forwarding account, which I then pull on to my own system. My own system forwards outgoing mail via the supplier. The supplier has changed a few times over the years (something of a pain), my location a few times, and my ISP several times (both painless as far as mail goes).

Having to change your email address is not only tiresome for yourself, it is tiresome for your contacts.

I have my own domain at 123-reg and use their email forwarding.

As it happens I have a BTinternet email account which I have never paid for since I left their 56k dial up service. For a while I used to pay Plusnet for their email service after I left them and moved to an ISP which did not have an email service. Plusnet stopped charging me when they introduced their new billing system.
