Unable to get FTTC to the cabinet

[link to this post]

Hello there

I have recently move into a new property , the only broadband all providers are offering is ADSL,

On openreach and Essex super fasts fibre checker they both say fibre to the cabinet is Available to my property but on BTs ADSL checker it is not

I have contacted both open reach and Essex super fast who both have said that I am able to get FTTC as my local cabinet is enabled but no provider will offer it just ADSL

I am unsure what to do as I contact BT I get the same answer we can only offer ADSL and when I contact Openreach I get the answer the FTTC is available and it just goes round in a circle , according to Essex Superfast address checker who rolled out the fibre in my area it’s in my local cabinet

Any help on who to contact about this as it seems like my property will never get any sort of decent broadband

Thanks

Likely one of two things

1. Cabinet is so new its not really taking orders yet
OR
2. Cabinet is at a capacity limit and needs some work done so more people can order

What does https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/... show when you enter your postcode and then select the correct house from the subsequent list?

LIkely to mention waiting list.

Exchange MARKS TEY is served by Cabinet 3
Featured Products Downstream Line Rate(Mbps) Upstream Line Rate (Mbps) Downstream Range (Mbps) Availability Date FTTP Install Process
FTTP on Demand 330 30 -- Available --
ADSL Products Downstream Line Rate (Mbps) Upstream Line Rate (Mbps) Downstream Range(Mbps) Availability Date
WBC ADSL 2+ Up to 3 -- 2.5 to 6.5 Available
WBC ADSL2+ Annex M Up to 3 Up to 0.5 2.5 to 6.5 Available
ADSL Max Up to 3 -- 2 to 5.5 Available
WBC Fixed Rate 1 -- -- Available
Fixed Rate 1 -- -- Available
Other Offerings Availability Date
VDSL Multicast Available
ADSL Multicast Available
FTTP is not available.

For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.

The Stop Sale date for IPstream is from 31 Oct 2013. The Formal Retirement date for IPstream is from 30 Jun 2014.

In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.

Thank you for your interest

It says nothing about a waiting list and according to Essex super fast the fibre has been at marks tey cabinet for years , also when the Openreach engineer installed my Phone line he said there’s loads of space In the cabinet , but on he DSL checker there’s no mention of FTTC

Thanks

It’s a new move , the house was vacant for about a year before we moved in if that has anything to do with the reason we can’t get FTTC . The eningeer who installed the new phone point said there was no reason for me not being able to get FTTC

It's not showing available at all for that cabinet so it must be closed to orders, either capacity or a technical issue.

I thought this could be the case , but the reply I get from open reach when contacting them is that it is available and contact your ISP

If if put a neighbours address into BTs website they say fibre is available it’s only my address

hmmm if if was a new build I coud understand that the DP might not have something called line loss on it which means openreach systems cant see it and assume it out fof distance --

how far is cabinet away from you

I’m not sure of the exact distance but the Openreach engineer said it was literally round the corner so that shouldn’t be an issue , i seem to be stuck in a circle when I contact BT they say it’s unavailable speak to open reach when I speak to Openreach they say it’s available please contact your ISP

Also on Essex Superfast website this is the status of my address Status: Superfast Fibre upgrade completed to your premises by Superfast Essex and Openreach to MARKS TEY 3

It's not only your address.

What is the result from the DSL checker for the neighbours?
The cabinet had an expansion pod added recently though not sure if it's taking orders on it yet.

May be a mistake, email me andrew at thinkbroadband dot com your address and will look into it and pester Openreach if there looks to be a checker error.

Have asked

Other postcodes on the cabinet have addresses showing the same problem, so looks like a cabinet/database issue. Might be as simple as should say waiting list but someone pressed the wrong button somewhere.

My direct neighbour is the same but across the road it says fibre is available

I think my frustration is with open reach who just seem to send the same response that fibre can be ordered and to contact my ISP, should they be able to tell me if the cabinet is full?

ISP should be able to tell, and escalate to get an answer. More or less what I've done for you.

Check your neighbours address on:

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/...

What does it show?

Is it the same cabinet number? It could be they are connected to a different cabinet if fibre is available to them.
