Apologies in advance for the long post!
I am posting a question on behalf of a Society I am a member of. I have posted this on the PlusNet forum who partially advised regarding cancellation of service if not good enough.
First a bit of info,
The Society are currently using 4G Mobile Broadband for the site, it's a combination of small buildings and outdoor areas and is protected by CCTV. At the moment the 4G just isn't up to standard with a good enough signal to ensure the CCTV is accessible offsite and this is a major concern for the society directors. The 4G Mobile Broadband was previously used just to access a site PC, and to provide basic internet for use while onsite. As this has now changed they need to look at other options.
The Society is situated on land owned by a comercial company.
Now the question:
They are now looking at potentially getting a fixed line service, and PlusNet is a good contender as they offer a 12 month contract (however other buisiness providers would be fine- suggestions are welcome).
Their site does NOT currently have an incoming landline, however another nearby tenant has recently left and they DID have an active line, which the Society are wondering if they could somehow utilise it?
The comercial organisation have their own landline, but using the broadband checker on their number threw up no results. Using one of the other concessions based at the same address DID provide a speed estimate.
If the line was installed and the service setup, but was no faster or better could it be cancelled without charges or with the minium of costs involved? Or would it be better to pick a 1-3 month contact provider and pay the upfront install costs of a new line?
Does anyone have any knowledge of installation of a landline at a commercial location? Is it fairly easy to get sorted? Any suggestions for making sure it's done as easily as possible?
Apologies for the questions, happy to clarify any points.
Thanks in advance
CJT.
