Virgin Media Hub 3 Latency Issues

[link to this post]

I have been having consitent and frequent lag spikes and latency issues when trying to play games or stream movies on the internet. I was wondering if the Hub 3 was put to modem mode and i bought a different router would the issue be fixed or should I take this up with virgin media. Download and Upload speeds that im getting are as advertised.

Here is a BQM of an average day: https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/...

That looks like typical peak time over utilisation. Virgin may do something about it if reported enough times.

Have you reported this on the Virgin help forum?

Agreed, that is a sign of congestion on the circuit. By all means complain on the VM Forums, but don't expect a quick fix.

I've had basically the same problem with virgin just feeding me excuses and false promises now for almost 2 months. Ive had an engineer come out twice numourous calls to customer service (if you can call it that) still nothing.

All the technicians can do is ensure you are properly connected to the network. If the network is full, (like the M25 by Heathrow) then these technicians can't add more lanes!.

That takes serious money. Start by complaining at the top.

Maybe phone in and see if they can send you a hub 4? More channels, more chance of getting a bit better connection.

Only if the area is transmitting / receiving more channels.
